Overview
Horizon Plaza is a Senior Citizen Apartment facility whose purpose
is assisted housing, providing rent subsidy based on income, but it
is also much more than that. Horizon is a very special place full
of very special people. It is good friends sharing good times, caring
about each other, working and playing together, looking forward to
tomorrow. Tenants are known by their first names, everyone has a friend
or group of friends depending on their interests and physical ability,
passing time in what has come to be thought of as their own "little
country club."
History
Horizon Plaza was constructed and opened in 1979. There are 100 apartments
on 7 floors. The physical and financial condition of the property
is excellent and the exterior is well maintained and the grounds well
groomed. The interior is well appointed and brings about lavish compliments
from visitors. Horizon Plaza is well-recognized in the community as
providing an environment that offers a high quality of life for its
residents.
Administration
Horizon Plaza is owned and operated by Mission Real Estate Corp. President
and Managing Agent is L.W. Rudnick who is an active member of the
AHMA/87 and currently serves on the board of directors. Property Manager
is Pat McCullough, also an active member of AHMA/7. She holds the
NAHP-EXECUTIVE designation. Both the owner and manager have remained
the same since the beginning. "It has been my privilege to be
the Property Manager at Horizon since the beginning and I have found
senior citizens to be the best possible tenants a landlord could possibly
hope to have," said Mrs. McCullough.
Staff
Horizon Plaza has an excellent maintenance and custodial
staff. Our resident security staff provides excellent service
on evenings and weekends. Carl Vaughn, who works full-time provides
hugs and laughter as well as instant attention to any problem
no matter how great or small. He is truly loved like he was
family by all the residents. Lee Cates is a great assistant
to Carl and has a friendly word for all. Early
risers are greeted by Mary Silva who does our custodial work.
