Hetlinger Developmental Services, Inc. is a provider of services to people with developmental disabilities. Formed by a group of concerned parents and volunteers in 1961, the agency has grown and expanded services to include Adult Day Services, Adult Residential Services, Family Support Services, and Service Coordination.

Consistent with Kansas law, it is the responsibility of Hetlinger Developmental Services, Inc. to assist people with developmental disabilities who live in Lyon, Morris, Chase, and Wabaunsee counties to have services and supports which allow them opportunities of choice to increase their independence, productivity, integration, and inclusion into their communities.

Consistent with provisions of the Developmental Disabilities Reform Act, the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services has designated a Community Developmental Disability Organization (CDDO) for every area of the state of Kansas to help coordinate services and supports for persons with developmental disabilities. Hetlinger Developmental Services, Inc. has been named the CDDO for Lyon, Morris, Chase, and Wabaunsee counties and works with other affiliated organizations to ensure quality services that are cost effective and easy to access. Major activities as CDDO include:

* providing a single point of entry for people seeking services
* maintaining a county-wide service needs list of those waiting for services
* offering resource coordination while individuals and families determine which
   service provider(s) they wish to use
* working with people to gain access to all needed services
* coordinating the relocation of people living in state hospitals who wish to return
   to their home community
* working with affiliated organizations to ensure consumer-driven, quality services
